SPICED PEAR CHUTNEY
Making a chutney is a great way to preserve fruit. Chutney is basically a condiment made from fruit, sugar and vinegar. You can add you own preferred spices to the chutney. This flavourful pear chutney can be eaten with your favourite cheeses or cold meats, mix it for a dip with cream cheese or put a dollop on a burger or sandwich.
HOW TO MAKE THIS SPICED PEAR CHUTNEY
Peel the pears, cut out the core and chop into small pieces. Put the pear together with the other ingredients for the chutney in a sauce pan, stir well and bring to a boil. Turn down the heat and simmer on low for 20-30 minutes stirring often, until thickened. If it’s still a bit runny, simmer for another 10-15 minutes. Put the pear chutney in sterilised jars, close and leave to cool. You can store an opened jar in the fridge for several weeks. Enjoy!
